Solar Panels
Harness the power of the sun for sustainable energy
Grants for Solar Panels
Through the UK government's ECO4 grant initiative, eligible households can now access financial support to install solar panels and other energy-efficient solutions at no cost. This program is designed to promote the adoption of renewable energy technologies, enabling homeowners to transition to sustainable, eco-friendly power sources.
How Do Solar Panels Generate Electricity?
Sunlight Absorption
Solar panels are composed of photovoltaic (PV) cells, typically made from silicon. These cells absorb sunlight, which consists of tiny energy particles called photons.
Electron Activation
When photons strike the PV cells, they knock electrons loose from their atoms. This movement of electrons generates an electric current.
Electricity Generation
The flow of electrons is captured by wires and directed as direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter then converts this DC electricity into alternating current (AC), which powers your home appliances and lighting.
Energy Utilization
The electricity produced can be used immediately to power your home, stored in a battery system for later use, or fed back into the grid, depending on your setup.
